What good does a website do? This hasn’t been fruitful in my artistic endeavors but I pay for it every year

How often do people visit artist websites? I usually only do when I want to buy a product that I see them advertise on their social media or in real life. Maybe that’s the direction I should head

For me my website’s purpose is to collect credit card payments, and even that hasn’t really been helpful because people are more willing to pay through venmo or paypal. Plus it doesn’t cost me a small fee for each transaction
